1. Sheep farming is a major industry in Wandering, with many farmers specializing in merino wool. The sheep are often run through “sheep dips” to clear them of pests and diseases.

2. The town’s original name was “Wandarin”, which is believed to have come from the local word for “resting place”. The spelling was later changed to “Wandering”.

3. The area was first explored by Europeans in the early 1800s, and many of the town’s streets are named after these explorers, including “Brookman” and “Dumbleyung”.

4. The stunning Yenyenning Lakes are located just 16 km south of Wandering. These salt lakes are popular for birdwatching and other outdoor activities.

5. In 1964, a massive meteorite landed in the nearby town of Dumbleyung, just 30 km from Wandering. The 600 kg space rock is now on display at the Dumbleyung Community Resource Centre.
